Meet Libby-Grace
Hello!
Trained Antenatal, Birth and Postpartum Doula.
I’m Libby-Grace, a trained antenatal, birth and postpartum doula, practising Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, and pre and postnatal coach. Alongside my physiotherapy career, I bring over a decade of experience in nannying and supporting families with children from newborns through to their teenage years. These complementary experiences shape my holistic, family centred approach to supporting women and families through pregnancy, birth and beyond.
When supporting you as your doula, my role is to provide non medical emotional, practical and informational support throughout your journey. While my physiotherapy background informs my understanding of the female body, pregnancy, birth and recovery, my doula services are separate from my clinical practice and do not include physiotherapy assessment or treatment.
Having recently relocated to Christchurch, I’m embracing a slower, more fulfilling pace of life with my partner and our one year old miniature dachshund, Boston.
My approach to birth support is heart centred, evidence informed and holistic. I bring together my clinical understanding of the female body with a deep passion for providing continuous emotional, practical and informational support throughout pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period.
Through my work as a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, I have had the privilege of supporting women through some of the most significant physical changes of their lives. I have also seen how pregnancy and birth can influence a woman’s confidence, emotional wellbeing and relationship with herself. These experiences inspired me to become a doula, allowing me to support women beyond the physical aspects of pregnancy and recovery, with a more proactive and holistic approach to antenatal care.
I believe your body, mind, emotions and birth experience are deeply connected. My role is not to tell you how to give birth or make decisions on your behalf, but to walk alongside you with information, reassurance and continuous support, empowering you to make informed choices in collaboration with your maternity care team.
Above all, I want you to feel heard, respected and supported as you navigate this transformative chapter of your life. I hope to help you connect with your intuition, recognise your own strength, build trust in yourself and feel confident in your choices as you prepare to welcome your baby and embrace the transition into motherhood.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
A doula is a trained, non-medical support person who walks alongside you through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
While your midwife or LMC provides your clinical care, a doula offers continuous, holistic support for you and your birth team, complementing the care you already have rather than replacing it.
Think of a doula as someone in your corner. Someone who gets to know you, understands what matters to you, and helps you and your birth team feel informed, grounded and supported throughout the journey.
During birth, this might mean offering comfort, reassurance, movement and positioning, helping your partner feel confident in their role, or simply being a calm and familiar presence when things feel intense.
I see my role as working alongside you, your partner and your LMC, creating a supportive team around you and helping you feel cared for, heard and empowered.

My journey into doula work grew naturally from my experience as a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist.
Through working with women during pregnancy and postpartum, I saw how much more there was to supporting a woman than simply caring for the physical body.
I witnessed fear, uncertainty and anxiety around birth, as well as the incredible difference that feeling heard, informed and supported could make.
I wanted to be able to offer women a more complete form of support. This inspired me to train as a doula and bring together my knowledge of pelvic health with the emotional, practical and continuous support that doula care provides.
For me, becoming a doula felt like bringing together all the parts of my work that I love.
-
I bring together Pelvic Health Physiotherapy, doula care, pre and postnatal coaching and experience working with families.
This gives me a multidisciplinary perspective when supporting women through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
I understand the physical changes that occur during pregnancy and after birth, while also recognising that birth is not simply a physical experience.
There are emotional, mental, relational and deeply personal aspects to becoming a mother too.
My approach is therefore heart centred, evidence informed and holistic, with the focus always on you and what you need.

I believe there is no single right way to birth. Every woman, every baby and every birth is different.
My role is not to tell you what kind of birth you should have, but to help you understand your options, explore your preferences and feel confident making decisions that align with your values and what feels right for you.
I support women across all types of birth , whether that’s a physiological birth, induction, epidural, assisted birth or caesarean birth. Your birth does not need to look a certain way for it to be worthy of support.
Whether your birth unfolds exactly as you imagined or takes a completely different path, you deserve to feel safe, supported, respected and heard.
I want you to trust yourself and your ability to meet whatever your birth brings, knowing that I’ll be beside you without judgement, supporting your choices and your individual experience.
